Science has progressed over many centuries.
→「Recently, the IT industry has been developing」
→「Recently, the IT industry has been advancing」
The business will improve this year.
The business will get better this year.
Some exercises improved my health.
Some exercises made my health better.
- I wasted my precious time. I should've given up at the beginning.
- What a waste of time! I could've used for other things.
I’m addicted to my phone.”
Nomophobia(ノモフォビア)=「No Mobile Phone Phobia」の略
- .He ignored the question.
- 英語2.Don’t ignore me!
ビジネスのメールなどでよく使うのが「disregard(ディスリガード)」です。
1.Please disregard this email if you have already replied my last email.
2.Please disregard the email I have sent this morning.
I blew off the e-mail from the teacher. ※「blew(ブルー)」は過去形です。
- 「人権無視」:disregard for human rights ※「human rights」は「人権」です。
A. I specified a delivery time.
B. I’ll specify the system type.
A. She identified his name.
B. The girl identified with Snow White.
「Please confirm your booking details below.」
You should get at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day.
「twofold」 …
The number of students has doubled over the past five years.
The company expects sales to double this fiscal year.
The store is not on this street, it is on the next street.
the rest of the worldの意味は、あなたが居る国以外の国のことです。 日本に居るなら日本以外の国をthe rest of the worldと言います
5 minutes left
5 minutes remaining.
There are 5 (more) minutes remaining until the end of the game.
Discard the habit.
Abolish the system.
. They decided to abolish the old restriction
Our school will do away with the annual sports event.
英語でget rid ofやdo away withという言い方もできます。
I'm determined.
make up one's mind
I make up my mind.「
My mind is made up.
from a certain point of view以外にも
from a business perspective「ビジネス的な観点から」
from a hygienic perspective「衛生的な観点から」
from an academic perspective「学問的な観点から」
From an economic perspective「
My perspective on sth. is …
From my perspective, …
From my point of view, …
In my opinion, …
In my view, …
I like to watch international movies to learn about different perspectives from people around the world.
My perspective on the environmental issue is very different from my professor’s.
You should always keep a broad perspective.
From my perspective, it seems wrong.
We have to use some new strategies to draw more prospective clients.
Tom is the prospective buyer of this painting.
In video games, you can directly experience many different characters’ perspectives.
This game is played from a third-person perspective.
I know I have to put things in perspective.
They became rich, but they still managed to keep things in perspective.
The same facts can have different meanings when seen from different perspectives.

Changing Your Personality With a Smartphone App
A study from five universities shows that a smartphone app can help change the app user's personality. In the study, around 1,500 people used the app for three months. The researchers then looked at how the people in the study had changed.
The study looked at positive features that included being curious, kind, and friendly. Most of the people said they wanted less negative feelings such as anger or being sad.
Friends and family members saw changes in the users who wanted to improve in an area, such as wanting to do a job well or being friendly. However, they weren't able to see any changes in those who wanted to reduce negative feelings, such as being sad.
The app is able to remind people of their goals. It also has short videos and gives them advice. These tools help people reach their goals. The app was made as a research tool, but it is believed that more people will be able to use apps like this in the future.

Training a Robotic Dog
Researchers have been training a robotic dog. Alex Li, Head of the Advanced Robotics Lab at Edinburgh University, is using AI in robotics.
Researchers trained the robotic dog by copying the way children are taught to play football. First, children are taught individual skills. They learn to pass, dribble and shoot. Then they learn how to put those skills together to win a game.
First, the dog was taught skills like walking. Then it was taught to solve problems, like getting up from different positions and walking to a target. This technique was useful because the dog could be introduced to new situations. For example, walking up and down the stairs. And it was trained to make quick changes so it could stay standing and continue to its goal.
It’s cool to see a robotic dog run, fall, and watch it get back on its feet. But researchers want a robot that can do something more useful for us. For example, they want to train AI that can control a human-like robot. But they also know that it would be more difficult than training a robotic dog to walk and get up.

Space Flights Can Be for the Rich or Lucky
Spaceflight is now available for very rich people. Jared Isaacman, a 37-year-old billionaire, is hiring a spacecraft from Elon Musk's company, SpaceX, for a four-day trip to space. It will be the first spaceflight where everyone aboard is a regular citizen.
There are four seats, and Isaacman is looking for three travelers who are not super-rich. He is giving two seats to St. Jude Children's Hospital. There is a raffle for the other seat. The goal of the raffle is to raise $200 million for the hospital. The winner needs to be under six and a half feet tall, less than 250 pounds, and pass some physical and mental tests.
The SpaceX trip will not be the only one to take private passengers to orbit. A Houston space company will take three men to the International Space Station. It will cost the men $35,000 per night to stay there.
Those who don't have the money for a space trip may soon have another way to experience a few minutes of weightlessness. Blue Origin is a company that plans to test its New Shepard space vehicle with passengers in 2021.Answer the Questions

1. Do you think that a raffle is a good way to choose someone to go on a spaceflight?
-
Most people doesn't go there.
-
⭐ Most people don't go there.
-
Example Answer:
-
Yes, I think that a raffle is a good way to choose someone to go on a spaceflight. I think that a raffle gives somebody a chance to go, who normally wouldn't have the opportunity. For example, private space flights cost millions of dollars and only rich people can afford them.

2. Would you take a flight into space if you had the opportunity? Why or why not?
-
⭐ I want to experience zero gravity.
-
Example Answer:
-
Yes, I would take a flight into space if I had the opportunity because it would allow me to have an experience that very few people have ever had. For example, the chance to experience weightlessness would be very special.

3. Do you think being in a weightless environment could affect a person's health?
-
Example Answer:
-
Yes, I think that being in a weightless environment could affect a person's health. It's because our bodies are used to an environment with gravity. For example, we would lose muscle mass if we stay in space for too long.
