A study from five universities shows that a smartphone app can help change the app user's personality. In the study, around 1,500 people used the app for three months. The researchers then looked at how the people in the study had changed.
The study looked at positive features that included being curious, kind, and friendly. Most of the people said they wanted less negative feelings such as anger or being sad.
Friends and family members saw changes in the users who wanted to improve in an area, such as wanting to do a job well or being friendly. However, they weren't able to see any changes in those who wanted to reduce negative feelings, such as being sad.
The app is able to remind people of their goals. It also has short videos and gives them advice. These tools help people reach their goals. The app was made as a research tool, but it is believed that more people will be able to use apps like this in the future.
